I remember my first love
Ill love her foreva
But you know that didn’t last long
I wrote her a song in a letter

I wanted to die			
So badly I felt inside		
I made it by, somehow

I went to the war
But I wasn’t a soldier
I was just a young man
Trying to understand and learn more

I saw things so crazy
Lies is what youd think I was telling you
But I made it through, somehow

Now I wandered the road
I was all alone
Sometimes in the night
I’d cry from the cold

And I was so lonely
I had to use all my will just to stick around
But I made it through, somehow

There are some people
More evil than the devil
You might know a few of them
Or are friend’s with their relatives

And Ive seen the worst
Of mankind and Ive seen it inside
But I turned out alright, somehow

Now on my face there are lines
Scars behind wistful eyes
My mouth is a blue smile
From the trial of time
 
Cause there was a time			
10000 times worse than now		
But I made it through, somehow		

I have a friend
Her name I forget
I cant remember her face
Or the place we met

But I feel her smile			
On everything I ever do now		
She helped me through, somehow
